The World Of Twisted Minds

Don’t you think we live in a world of twisted minds, where a lawyer becomes HR manager, where an engineer becomes CEO, where a journalist becomes Chairman of a Cricket Board. It sounds like wonderland, but to an irrational mind. If he wanted to be a lawyer, then why is he an HR manager now; if he wanted to be a Financial Officer, then why did he study engineering? Simply put, we’re a confused lot. We make decisions with twisted minds, leading to twisted destinations. We are not clear about our goals; all we concentrate on is the finishing line. Whether the destination we’ve reached at is what we’ve aimed of or not, doesn’t bother us enough. The world has become our oyster to such lengths that we pursue university degrees with a mental stack of options, options which we can switch to later. But why?Education is the best investment a person can make. It is considered as the third eye of a man. Unfortunately, Pakistan has one of the highest illiteracy rates in the world. Apart from this heartbreaking statistic, students here are driven not by a thirst for knowledge but to achieve excellent grades. Numbers has become the name of this game! We are pushing our future to learn how to clear a standard(class) but not over clearing their concepts. Isn’t education about learning, gaining skills and values? Are we getting an education here or just attaining good marks? We are truly twisted since we are not even clear on this concept of a citizen’s basic right!
In this rapidly progressing world, everybody wants to fly high. It is a good sign when the people living in a society are ambitious because when they succeed the society grows stronger and prosper. Our society, however, functions in a weird fashion. We seek shortcuts to everything; shortcut switch has turned our success into failures. Abandoning ethical practices is the norm in shortcuts and a society that lacks a moral standing leaves a lot to be desired for. We need to decide which one is the real deal? Which type of success to run after? Make ourselves successful or make our society successful and prosperous?
Today we claim to stand united against terrorism. We raise our voices against injustice, we protest, we set trends on social media, but is our care free of prejudice? Is it extended to all? We reveal sympathy with the 130 victims of Paris Attack and overlook our starving neighbors or our miserable and targeted minorities. Do we really understand and feel their pain or we just follow the majority like any sheep? Even our perspectives, our viewpoints are twisted. What do we need to do, filter our DP’s or filter our hearts? Set trends on social media or feed a hungry neighbor? Update status or update our social values?
Let’s not allow our twisted minds to destroy our goals. Let’s not allow our twisted visions puzzle our very own personality. Sure twists and turns make a journey interesting but let’s not forget that they have a tendency to misguide.
