ICC Champions Trophy 2017
By Maaz Nawaz
This year was abuzz with back to back clash of titans for cricket lovers all over the world. It started off with PSL, followed by IPL and now the Champions Trophy where the world’s top 8 cricket teams, ranked by the ICC will play for the title of this year.
Previously thirteen nations have qualified for the Champions Trophy at least once. Seven teams have competed in every finals tournament, six of which have won the title. South Africa won the inaugural tournament, India and Australia have won two each, while New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies have each won once. Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, England and Pakistan are only Test playing nations who are yet to win the Champions Trophy.
The cricketing world is glued to their TVs, phones, and radios to follow the tournament, this time being hosted in England. The tension and entertainment skyrocketed from the very first match when Bangladesh gave England 300 runs to chase which it did in a record-breaking speed in 47 overs only.
The weather however is likely to jeopardize the games like they already did yesterday in Australia vs New Zealand’s match.
