Optimism ≅ Achievement
By Nain Tara and Mahima Sultan
Yaseen Rahimoon went by “Chotu” at the tender age of 12, working his way as a mechanic in a garage near his place and now is credited with having coached 6000 youth from Karachi.
According to him, he was reborn the day a car was brought to his garage that puzzled even his superiors and just could not get started. Why reborn, you ask? Yaseen believes the true birthday of a person isn’t when he was born to his parents but when said person realizes what is the purpose in his life. That day, his ‘ustaad’ and his complete inability to find a solution to the car made him understand that no matter how much a person may stalk their minds with knowledge, life will not stop at throwing curveballs one’s way and the only resolution to such problems is to continue moving forward and learning from mistakes.
Gradually Yaseen joined iACT, an institution in Malir, to get formally educated and soon gathered a team of trusted and talented people to lay the foundation of his program of public speaking, called ‘Youth Mobs’ or ‘Pehchane Khud Ko.’
We are surrounded by people who have made a name of themselves thanks to the intervention and support of their families or friends but how rare it is to find self-made people, the kind who dedicated their energies and time on bravely facing hardships of life to carve out space for themselves and help others.
Yaseen was not a learned person for 20 years of his life but after one stumble, committed to become independent and even managed to positively affect his surroundings. He is completing his BBA from Iqra University right now.
