The News Education Expo 17 is an excellent platform for the young blood of Karachi to choose from the best higher education and vocational training institutions.
This year it also managed to assemble large numbers of visitors which included students, mostly aged between 18 to 22 years, who eagerly questioned the representatives of local universities and consultants of foreign higher educational institutions. The exhibition, held at the Expo Centre, was inaugurated by the chief minister Sindh on its first day (Saturday).
Despite the heat these days, the energy level of both the visitors and people from different universities present was quite high but the turnout, according to the organizers, was comparatively low due to the exam period of colleges and universities.
The event offered more than 70 stalls of top higher education institutions in the metropolis whereas the final day spotted crowd listening to options from various leading higher education institutes of Karachi.
Among the many interesting set ups, Dr Essa Laboratories and Diagnostic Centre, in collaboration with Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education, set up a free-of-cost bone mineral density test to measure the amount of minerals and quantity of calcium in the bones. This test is helpful in detecting bone related problems.
The visitors showed a lot of interest in our specialized programmes like media studies, advertising, film making, web designing and game designing where Arena offered special 20 percent scholarship at the expo for the prospects.
During the closing hours, the former mayor Karachi and now Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party, Syed Mustafa Kamal, along with PSP President Anis Qaimkhani and other central leaders Raza Haroon and Waseem Aftab also visited to interact with the students and organizers alike.
They visited each and every stall, briefly talked to visitors and persons at the stalls. Mustafa Kamal informed the people that he had inaugurated the first edition of The News Education Expo as the Mayor Karachi nine years ago and was present today in a different capacity.
