Introducing Malir Stars : Episode 3

By FT correspondent

Munawwar Ali never decided on what to do with his life.Whatever he wanted, his family let him pursue. For example, he studied in two schools, one in the morning the other in the noon. He even took two tuitions. But this doesn’t end here, this wonkiness persisted and he did the same while in college and in university. It was like he had made a tradition of doing things twice in his life.

When asked why live in such fashion, he gave a typical two-way response. ‘If I fail at one, I will pass in the other at least,’ was one of his nonchalant answers. The other however isn’t as casual as one would like. ‘School allows me to stay away from home which in turn keeps me from sitting bored at my father’s shop. It is my respite. It gives me peace.’

He had a guru. A figure among ciphers who would resolve any and many problems of his in exchange of a cup of tea. He may soundinnocent, my reader but don’t be fooled. Easy on the eyes with a penchant to sing, Munawwar is your classic heart breaker. His charming gift of gab coupled with beauty made him Akbar’s nextrecruiting target. They became fast friends first and gradually Akbartried and counselled him. He asked him to make use of his time andtold him of the group he was forming where Munawwar may contribute. Munawwar accepted the offer eagerly and became a part of their batch.

Akbar was elated with the addition of Munawwar and made the most of it. The group lacked a female participant but Akbar did not let it hinder him. He gave Munawwar female leads to perform. Initially Munawwar threw tantrums against the notion but agreed on it later and performed his roles brilliantly.

Things have fallen at their right places for him now. He stood first in iACT’s language program and is currently studying Computer Rise Accounting from ZAS college on scholarship with Akbar and is enjoying his life.
